How to book a grooming appointment at Scruffs

Give us a call on 07474 864582 to book your dog in for their Scruffs grooming session. If you are a first time customer, call to book your free initial grooming consultation.

All appointments, except for the free pre-groom consultation, need to be secured with a £25 deposit.

Free 15 minute pre-groom consultaion

Why do we need an initial consultation?

The consultation gives you and your dog a chance to meet their groomer. There are so many different dog breeds, sizes, coat types, temperaments and of course, an owner’s individual styling preferences. To make an individual plan for the best grooming approach for the dog, we will assess the coat and discuss the correct grooming method together with confirmation of the cost. This examination also gives us the opportunity to give the dog a quick health check.

Pre-groom etiquette

Doing the business
Make sure your dog has had a walk and chance to relieve itself before your appointment.

Dogs that are under the weather
If you know your dog is not themselves and could be unwell, please let us know as soon as you can and do not bring them to the salon. Late cancellation charges may apply.

If your dog is in season
Do not bring your dog for a groom if she is in season. She may be more sensitive and grooming could be uncomfortable or upsetting.

Flea treatments
Please make sure your dog’s flea treatments are up-to-date. If fleas are found during the groom, we will let you know immediately. The groom will be finished, but there will be an additional charge for dogs with fleas, as we will need to disinfect the salon and cancel any imminent dog arrivals.

How long is the dog grooming appointment?

A typical grooming appointment can take a minimum of 2 hours. For your dog’s very first groom with us, we allow 3 hours to give them some familiarisation, play time and a break while they are getting used to us.

Post-groom etiquette

Dog grooming at Scruffs, Fareham

We will give you a courtesy call half an hour or so before the end of the grooming session to allow you enough time to collect your dog and make payment.

It is important your dog is collected on time.

An early collection could unsettle the dog and make it difficult for us to complete the grooming session. Please wait for your collection courtesy call.

A late collection could cross over with the next dog’s arrival. This means your dog will be in the holding pen and need to be continually checked to ensure their welfare. This will take us away from the next dog’s groom, pushing back appointment times. Any late collections, will be charged an additional £10 per half hour not collected (after 15 mins of the collection time).

Cancelling your dog grooming appointment

It’s okay to cancel, but please give us a minimum of 48 hours. Without the minimum notice, we will be unable to refund the £25 deposit.

If you are running late for your grooming appointment, please give us a call to let us know. We run to a tight schedule, and so delays will have a knock-on effect for other appointments. More than 20 minutes late, and you may be asked to rebook. In this case, we will be unable to refund the £25 deposit.

How do I cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel your dog grooming appointment, we are more than happy to reschedule. Please drop in and tell us, telephone us, or send a text or WhatsApp message.  Please DO NOT cancel by email or using our contact form, as we cannot guarantee we will see emails and form submissions at short notice.
